Data Annotation / Labelling

The process of humans (or AI) tagging raw data with the correct answers or categories so a model can learn from it during supervised training.

This is often outsourced, painstaking work — the quality of a model's annotations has a direct, sometimes underestimated, effect on the quality of the model itself.
