Map the feedback loops and hidden dependencies in a problem
Take a systems-thinking pass at this: [problem]. Don't just look at the piece I'm asking about — map the whole system around it: inputs, outputs, feedback loops, who's involved, what depends on what, where the bottlenecks are, and which loops are reinforcing versus self-correcting.
Point out the unintended consequences and knock-on effects that a narrower look would completely miss, and tell me where a single change would ripple the furthest across the whole system.
