Open-Weight Model
An AI model whose trained parameters are published for anyone to download and run themselves, as opposed to only being accessible through a paid API.
Llama, Mistral, and DeepSeek are open-weight — you can run them on your own hardware. Claude, GPT, and Gemini are not — you can only access them via an API or app.
